A Long Time Coming!
First of all….I’m going to enjoy telling this gal’s story, because Ms. J’s boudoir journey is a good one!
Ms. J contacted me in June of 2020, interested in doing a session to help her heal through some very personal stuff. We chatted by phone a couple of times, discussing all the details, and set plans to follow up on a specific date to get her retainer fee paid and book her session.
When that day arrived, I received a heart-felt note from her, describing a harrowing experience she had been through which left her needing facial surgery and fighting to keep her family together. Understandably, her plans for a boudoir photo shoot were postponed.
Fast forward to April 2022, when a name that looked so familiar showed up as the very LAST finalist interview scheduled before I announced the winners of my BIG BOUDOIR SESSION GIVEAWAY….Check out her story!
Why did you do your boudoir photo shoot?
I’ve been through a LOT in the past two years. It’s been a long, hard road, getting out a domestic violence situation and having to have reconstructive surgery on my eye socket. I saw Kat’s Giveaway opportunity and knew that I NEEDED to do this, to feel and see the beauty inside me again.
What was your favorite part of your session?
Oh, my gosh! It was all so great! Having my hair and makeup professionally done was fun and so relaxing. I ended up with a style that was COMPLETELY different from the way I typically do all that, but I just trusted the process and just LOVED how my photos looked.
What did doing this shoot do for your self-confidence, self-worth and self-image? Tell me your story.
1000%!! I left the studio the day of my session feeling like I could take on the world! Over the past two years, I’ve done so much work to heal and recover, and having this photo session brought how I feel on the inside into the physical world.
Was your experience what you were expecting? If not, what was different?
Yes…but, no. After all the time Kat invested in the process, I expected it to be fun, but I was surprised at how comfortable I was and how amazing I felt. I mean, you read all these wonderful reviews and you know she’s got game, but you don’t expect it to actually change you….to be transformative.
What was the best part of your boudoir journey? Would you change anything?
Seeing my photos! I fell in love with me again and loved picking all the gorgeous materials for my album. Holding that in my hands and seeing how incredible my photos looked in print was another favorite moment. Being named one of the Giveaway award winners was SO amazing, but I did not stop there and I plan to return for another session.
Is there anything else that you would like us to know?
That every woman should do this for herself. That you deserve this. You deserve to feel good and beautiful and worthy…because you are. What you have been through is part of your story, but it is not the final chapter. What defines us is not how many time life knocked us down, but how we bounced back up! I’m excited to do another session soon and continue my boudoir journey!
